Did you know…?
The TGA (technical building equipment) sector has a key role to play in the energy transition. There are two reasons for this. On the one hand, heating, water heating, lighting and cooling in buildings account for around 35% of total final energy consumption in Germany each year. 37% of this final building energy consumption again occurs in non-residential buildings. This clearly shows: Without modern technical building equipment (e.g., heat-insulating building envelopes, the integration of renewable energies, or intelligent and networked building technology), the national climate protection targets cannot be achieved.
The second reason: The urgently needed reduction of CO2 emissions is often associated with high financial expenditure. But especially in the building sector, enormous CO2 savings can be achieved with small investment activities. This is the result of a study conducted by the E.ON Energy Research Center at RWTH Aachen University, the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld and the Institute for Air Handling and Refrigeration Technology Dresden. In air-conditioning and ventilation technology alone, economically attractive activities can save up to 3 million tons of CO2 per year.
